Blue Nile Falls
Flowing with tremendous fortitude from the waters of Lake Tana, the Blue Nile pours over the basalt shoulder of a giant cataract and onwards through dark defiles, finally resting at Egypt’s fertile delta. Few places demonstrate the majestic power of this great river better than the hypnotic Blue Nile Falls. Located where the river first leaves Lake Tana, the Blue Nile spawns the sound of a pounding rumble as its shakes the mighty banks of the river on its way to the Falls.
Four hundred meters in width, the Blue Nile Falls are nothing short of astonishing. Watch as the pounding waters cascade 45 m down a sheer chasm, spitting a heavy mist that waters the lands up to a kilometer away. A touching complement to the angry nature of the river, absorb the gentle pinks, blues, greens and purples of the breathtaking color spectrum that shines in the cascade’s mist.
