Kenya's Northern Kenya

Meru National Park

Harbored in the semiarid plains of Kenya’s Central Highlands, the Meru National Park joins the Samburu National Reserve, Buffalo Springs National Reserve and the Shaba National Reserve in a breathtaking triumvirate of protected lands. Cutting through the scenic landscape, find the Uaso Nyiro River, sided by rocky hills to the north and the rugged granite peaks of Mt. Ololokwe. Discover elephants, buffaloes and waterbuck along the sides of the river, as well as troops of baboons as they snack on palm nuts.

Meru remains one of the most unspoiled of Kenya’s premier parks, and is adorned with thick stands of acacia and fig trees. Find thick swamps in the north, along with the water buffalo that call these waters home, and open plains in the east, dotted ostrich, zebra and oryx.
