Liwonde National Park
One of the country’s premier wildlife areas, the Liwonde National Park encompasses 580 sq.km of southern Malawi’s lush vegetation. Enveloping the wild shores of the Shire River as well as the more placid backwaters and lagoons, vast savannah and marshes, mopane woodlands and rolling hills of the area, the Liwonde National Park offers a rich habitat to support a diverse wealth of flora and fauna.
Explore its many natural treasures during the day along this serene river dotted with purple lilies and colorful water birds, and witness the large roaming herds of elephant, sable antelope, leopard and Impala amidst its floodplains, or venture at night for the true African wildlife experience where you may float among the crocodile and hippo of the river separated by little other than a wooden boat.
