Namibia's Namib Desert
Sossusvlei
Hidden within Namibia’s largest nature reserve rests the brilliant creation of Mother Nature’s adroit hand millions of years in the sculpting. The Sossusvlei, the magnificent clay pan enclosed by towering sand dunes, is the highlight of the Namib Desert.
The Sossusvlei Dunes, many measuring more than 300m in height, are the tallest in the world. Within their captivating presence there remains a strong sense of isolation, and a hike through this arid geographic phenomenon will no doubt offer visitors a somber experience. A visit to the Sossusvlei is never the same as the Namibian winds forever change their shape and the glowing sun continues to shed new brilliance amidst their shimmering sands.
