Seychelles's Inner Islands
Mahe
Although it serves as the economic and cultural hub of the Seychelles, this principle island maintains a certain unique charm and appeal, only enhanced by the laid back ambiance for which the islands are known. The largest and most populous of the islands, Mahe boasts a plethora of both natural as well as cultural treasures. From fertile forests to soft sands; from cultivated gardens to protected rarities; from bustling nightlife to the silent splendor of the underwater wonderland below, Mahe proves a vibrant mosaic of Seychellois wonders.
Upon this delightful island find the country’s capital, Victoria, one of the smallest cities in the world, as well as one of the most charming. Peruse the humble palm fringed streets or partake in the lively market where indigenous crafts, fresh fish, ripe fruits and colorful vegetables abound. Trek to the peak of Morne Sychellois, or wander the vibrant colors of the lush Botanical Gardens. Established almost a century ago and covering 15 acres, the Gardens encompass the lush greenery and rare flora that make Mahe a botanist’s paradise.
