A personal butler assigned to cater to their requirements throughout their stay. Baskets of fresh fruit, fish and lobsters are brought by traditional outriggers to Mnemba's shore, to be fabulously prepared and presented as exquisite and exotic delicacies, and guests enjoy a range of island activities, including snorkeling, windsurfing, kayaking and scuba diving the gloriously clear waters of the surrounding Indian Ocean. Traditional wooden dhows are provided to explore further in an authentic East African style. Deep-sea fishing and PADI diving courses are available at an additional cost.
The lodge is run with an aim to preserve the ecological balance of the island and surrounding reefs. They are presently lobbying to secure the sanctity of the island as a marine park. These sandy shores are surrounded by rich, colorful reefs teaming with fish, from tiny shoals of coral dwellers to impressive dolphin, barracuda, tuna further afield.
All fresh tropical cocktails, diving expeditions, water sports and fishing trips are included within the Mnemba experience, and there is a sense of lightness that results from an absolutely all inclusive stay in which soft colored cotton wraps and gowns are laid smooth on crisp linen in each room. A sense abounds that you could travel here with nothing, to take only photographs and leave only footprints in this far-removed dream. True therapy indeed.
