Uganda's Kampala
Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary
Twenty three kilometers off the shores of Entebbe and part of the Ssese Islands, Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary joins 83 other pristinely picturesque islands spotting the massive Lake Victoria. Uganda’s newest primate sanctuary, the 100 acre forested island of Ngamba offers a breathtaking setting for the numerous displaced chimpanzees that now call its branches home.
Formed as a result of the growing concern among dedicated organizations, Ngamba Island represents a significant effort to conserve some of Africa’s finest resources…its wildlife. Take a motorized Ssese canoe from Entebbe, or stay in the natural habitat of the chimps at one of the luxurious camps found on the island.
