THE ISSUE
Some of Africa’s most iconic species are under a threat so severe that without the active support of anti-poaching units, they could be wiped out within our lifetimes. Species that are targeted due to their high black-market value include the elephant, lion, pangolin, gorilla and especially the black rhino who is already listed as critically endangered.
THE SOLUTION
Our goal is to support organizations on ground who are recruiting for anti-poaching jobs, which in turn supports local communities and invests them in the wellbeing of Africa’s wildlife. Help us ensure those brave individuals who are putting their life on the line have the proper training and equipment to do their jobs effectively.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
You can donate to this cause directly with either a one-time or monthly donation:
Here are a few examples of costs associated with supporting anti-poaching efforts:
- $25 can pay a day’s field rations
- $100 can buy a digital camera to ID specific animals in the field
- $1,000 can fund two aerial surveillance flights
- $4,000 can fit a rhino with a GPS tracking device
WHO WE SUPPORT
RHINO CONSERVATION BOTSWANA
Rhino Conservation Botswana (RCB) works closely with the Botswana government to combat the poaching crisis targeting black and white rhino for their horns. Their mission is to help rhinos beat extinction by focusing on the protection and growth of existing populations.
SCORPION ANTI-POACHING UNIT
A glaring 21% of lion mortalities within Hwange come as a result of accidental snaring. Focused on protecting the wildlife within Hwange National Park, this unit supports Zimbabwe’s Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZPWMA) in their anti-poaching efforts. If you are planning to visit the park, stop by to visit their headquarters.
