What does it really cost to travel to Africa? This is a tough one to explain because, in America, the “build-your-own” concept is commonly offered when it comes to customized products or services. We see it on menus at restaurants — create-your-own sandwich, pizza, burrito bowl — or select car detailing services — you can get the hot wax and exterior detail for an extra $20. We love it because we can use discretion to choose what we absolutely can and cannot live without, measuring prices attached to individual items, of course.
But planning a custom trip to Africa doesn’t exactly work like that. To help explain a little better, here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how we plan and price our trips:
1. We negotiate confidential and preferential net rates from our partners in Africa.
We have worked hard over the years to negotiate the excellent rates our partners in Africa provide us — the process isn’t always easy, but we know all the right people. Because we secure these preferential rates, we’re also asked to uphold a confidentiality agreement, meaning we’re not allowed to disclose the rates we’ve been given.
If you find a cheaper rate elsewhere on what appears to be the same itinerary, please show us. We can often diagnose why those rates are being offered, and we’ll work with you to ensure you’re receiving the value you desire. (Read: But, Isn’t It Cheaper To Book Direct?)
2. We do all of the running around for you.
It’s almost impossible to breakdown the cost of the time we put into researching your trip to Africa, making requests, booking space, and arranging transfers. Speaking candidly, there are times where you might not want us to price your trip based on the time, specifically when it involves more complicated arrangements. (I’m flashing back to a nine-month-long battle with a travel insurance company to ensure my client received the compensation she deserved for a flight disruption.)
But, we love being there for our clients to fight the pop-up battles, negotiate the value adds — everything planning a trip involves. When you work with us, you’ll find value in investing in us as your travel designers so you can spend your valuable time on what matters most to you.
3. We do everything in our power to ensure your peace of mind.
Peace of mind is a difficult thing to quantify. I’m not sure it’s something anyone can place a dollar value on it. You either have it or you don’t. In context, you’re either sure you’re going to be in good hands — your hotel is going to look the way you expect, your guides are going to be there to meet you at the time they say — or you’re not 100% sure, because maybe you booked online with someone in Africa you’ve never met.
By working with Alluring Africa, you receive access to a wealth of assurance including our years of experience and knowledge, which is invaluable for travelers and agents planning a trip to Africa for the first time. By booking through us, you can be 100% confident that all aspects of their trip are handled professionally and flawlessly. Not only that, we’ll be there for you 24/7 (yes, we take calls at 3 a.m.) to ensure your trip flows seamlessly from beginning to end.
