For a safari experience, we recommend a safari budget that typically falls between $1,000-$2,000+ per person sharing, per night. This safari budget would include accommodations, meals, internal air and most activities. Our guests tend to prefer smaller, intimate and more exclusive properties which are more expensive to operate. As a result, these luxury safari properties are more expensive to book. Of course, rates vary greatly depending on the season and it’s possible to find better rates during shoulder seasons.

Because we’re a boutique-style team with close friends in the industry, we have the ability to make “the impossible” happen. Do you dream of sleeping under the stars in the middle of the Maasai Mara? Perhaps with your preferred wine delivered to your star-bed platform? (Excellent idea, by the way.) Are you hoping to escape to a luxury lodge in Tanzania for the holidays? We can arrange that. Would you like to adopt a baby elephant and spend the afternoon with him? We’ll set that up. If you’re willing to be flexible with your budget, we can honor any request.

If you are on a tighter budget, we do have alternate options. However, to travel to Africa and to do it right – in a conservation-oriented and sustainable way – we have found that a budget of at least $850pp/day is required during peak season. When you are flying 15-20 hours to get to your destination, the last thing we want to do is cut corners, especially when you’re spending your valuable time and money.

When you go to some of Africa’s most iconic wildlife sanctuaries, conservancy fees range from $80-150pp/day. Other factors that impact the cost are the quality of the guides and the standard of accommodation.

If your budget is slightly less than $650 pp/day, here are a few ways to maximize your travel investment:

  • Travel during the shoulder season
  • Choose a program that includes large, permanent lodges and camps that accommodate between 30-80 people
  • Choose destinations that offer greater value due to economic and climatic conditions
  • Shorten the duration of your trip and experience superior conservation areas and accommodation.
